THE FOUNDATION STARTS WITH THE FOUNDER
The originator and backbone of Mr. ShorTie is founder Jonathan Loth. Jonathan’s fashion roots tie back to New York City, where his great grandfather and grandfather created gentleman’s clothing in the Empire State Building. Both of Jonathan’s parents were born and raised in New York City, and they eventually moved out to the southwest, where Jonathan himself grew up.

Jonthan Loth: Founder of Mr. ShorTie
Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jonathan nurtured his inspirations through philosophy, sports, street art, hip-hop culture, rock-n-roll culture, and reggae. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with an Art Studio degree, he started playing online poker semi-professionally. So much for the art degree...?? However, his passion for the arts brought him into a creative job opportunity, where he started teaching art to adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.
At the same time while Jonathan was teaching art, he began infusing his passion for music and DJing. He created his own mobile DJ company, and rocked events around the Southwest. After years of being engaging with art and music, Jonathan decided to put his fashion sense to use, and follow his family history in making quality New York made clothing.
Ever since he was a kid, Jonathan always wanted to have his own fashion label. His passion for art and design has always been an integral part of his life. Since he himself will tell you that he is ‘curiously unconventional’, it made sense for him to follow through with his dreams in creating a fashion label that introduces new unconventional designs to the tie industry. Although Jonathan will still occasionally DJ, as well as play his fair share of poker games, he now focuses all his time on his fashion label Mr. ShorTie. When he’s not spending quality time with his family, or watching one of his favorite sports teams, he’ll be blasting away at creating a brand that he and his community are proud to represent.

IN HIS OWN WORDS
I do my best to make Mr. ShorTie thrive. Not only to support my family, but also to support the families in the communities in which we are involved. That’s why every sale gets me super pumped. I know that part of that sale is going to enrich the people around me. However, nothing makes me happier than knowing that our gear makes somebody feel good while they rock it. It feels good to feel good, and I’m glad our threads make people feel that way. And now that they’re feeling good, they can go represent that positive attitude in the streets. They can set that example so that others know it’s okay to be their true selves. It all comes back to just being who you are. Which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself, if you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self transformation.” Unknown
And there you have it. We are all unique, so just be You. Be Curiously Unconventional.
